Here’s an interesting piece of news that not many know of - Mallika Sherawat’s forthcoming film ‘HISSS’ stars Her Royal Highness Princess Lakshmi Bai of Travencore!
“Akka” as she is affectionately called by close friends and family, met Hisss diector Jennifer Lynch through family friend Govind Menon, a producer of the film, and has known Mallika for the past few years. When director Lynch was casting for the role of Divya Dutta’s mother (Irrfan’s mother-in-law) for the film, she set her sights on the princess, “discovered” her, and offered her the role.
Initially, the Princess vehemently refused and Jennifer had to practically beg her to be in the movie. After much convincing and cajoling, the Princess finally agreed to be a part of the film. To everyone’s pleasant surprise, the Princess turned out to be a pro in front of the camera!
Director Lynch stated, “[Akka] is a natural story-teller…Her intelligence and grace are matched only by her incredible instinct about people and their character. It was an honor to be her director.”
The role is a crucial one, with intensely dramatic scenes alongside Irrfan Khan, whom many consider to be one of India’s greatest actors. “Akka” also provides a healthy amount of comic relief in the film, and her character’s storyline is crucial to the plot.
In fact, according to an inside source, word among some of the elite circles in Hollywood that have screened the film have said that she “is one of the best things about the film. A break-out character. Everyone thought she must have been a seasoned, or legendary actress from India. No one would have guessed this was her first role. Here she is working with award-winning actors, and she actually manages to steal some scenes!”
With the Hisss promotional tour starting early October, sources say that the Princess might even be accompanying Mallika during her trips to some cities down South. Hisss is slated for release on October 22.

On Sunday evening, Sonakshi Sinha showed up for the Dabangg party post-midnight with one of her twin bothers, while earlier in the evening Sonakshi’s mother Punam Sinha was escorted by her other twin brother.
Confused by the identical twins’ double entry into the venue of the party, Salman insisted on calling each of the Sinha twins ‘Luv-Kush’.
Says an onlooker, “Salman earlier saw one of the twins walk in with Mrs Sinha (for the record it was Luv Sinha who escorted his mom). Then much later, after midnight, long after Mrs. Sinha had left with her son, Sonakshi walked in with another twin (Kush Sinha). So Salman played it safe and referred to them separately as ‘Luv-Kush’.
Says a source close to Dabangg, “Whenever Salman sees either of Sonakshi’s brothers he calls him ‘Luv-Kush’ just to be on the safe side. Though the two of them are dissimilar in many ways, Salman is constantly confused about which Sinha twin is which. So no matter which twin he sees, he calls him by both names.”
From Sunday evening, Salman Khan and his Dabangg gang partied until 7 am on Monday morning.
At the Vie lounge in Juhu, Salman and the Dabangg team couldn’t stop dancing to the Munni track with each and every guest. Among the non-Dabangg gang who dropped in there was Aamir Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and David Dhawan.
At around 2 am when the party was over at Vie, Salman suggested they all go to his home in Bandra to continue the party.
Says Sonu Sood, “It was basically Salman’s non-film friends and just some of us from the Dabangg team… Sonakshi, me and a few others who accompanied Salman home. We stayed there until around 4 am. After that Salman took us to a builder-friend’s house. We finally wrapped up at 7 am.”
In fact, the party started on Sunday afternoon when Ramesh Taurani had thrown a brunch party for his wife’s brother’s wedding.
Says Sonu, “I’m not much of a party-goer. And I don’t drink at all. But I must say the Dabangg party and specially the after-party at Salman’s place made me feel very special. Salman has taken me under his wings. He says I should watch my steps and I’ll be doing well for myself in a year. That evening he also presented me a Being Human watch.”
At Salman’s home more plans were made for Dabangg 2.
Says Sood, “I suggested my twin brother’s character should be called Safedi Singh with the the line, ‘Safedi ki chamatkar door-door tak phaili hai’. Salman loved it. Our director Abhinav Kashyap has already started writing the sequel.”

Glamour girls Zeenat Aman and Mandakini may likely to be in the Bigg Boss House. If all goes well, Bigg Boss season 4 might have these ‘once upon a time’ hot and sensuous ladies.
Both the actors are known for their sensuous appeal on the big screen. While Zeenat, 58, has been credited for popularising the western look in Indian cinema, Mandakini hogged the limelight for her skin show in movies like “Ram Teri Ganga Maili”.
According to a source, “there is a possibility that Zeenatji and Mandakini will be part of ‘Bigg Boss’. Nothing is confirmed yet, but there is a strong possibility.”
Earlier, there were rumours of Hollywood actresses Pamela Anderson and Kelly Brook participating in the reality show.
Well, we can just wait and watch as the show airs on Sunday and none other than the Bolywood hunk Salman Khan is hosting the show.

Somewhere the line’s got to be drawn. And we are doing it here. It shouldn’t really matter to anybody but themselves and the people they are currently involved with, whether Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are together or not.
But what matters, certainly, is that both actors show a rare maturity and extend professional respect to each other when together. Like they did when shooting for Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan at Film City last week. According to a source on the sets, Salman and Kat had a blast on camera and off. And joining them was Bollywood’s original prankster, Khiladi Akshay Kumar, the lead star of the film.
While Salman and Akki were dressed in colourful vests, scarves and caps; Kat made for a rather sober picture, considering she plays an item girl in the movie.
Farah said, “Salman and Katrina are professionals and I couldn’t see uncertainty or discomfort on their faces while working with each other.

Director Abbas Tyrewala, whose latest flick Jhoota Hi Sahi with John Abraham is releasing on October 15, has decided to make yet another film with the actor in the lead role. Moreover, he is also planning to sign another young Bollywood hunk Imran Khan for the same project, which is titled Jaane Tune Kya Kahi.
Abbas has earlier worked with Imran in his debut movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which was written and directed by Tyrewala.
The director along with his producer Madhu Mantena has approached the two actors to play the lead roles in the forthcoming project.
A source was quoted saying that in both the romantic films Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Jhoota Hi Sahi, Abbas has shown love story between friends. Now, in the third film, he will have a serious take and will deal with a mature love story with serious overtones. Love and friendship have always remained the core part of the films of Abbas as a director and the same line of thought will continue to be in his next film too. The source added that Abbas has already started work on the script of the film and pre-production has also started.
The source further informed that Abbas is also interested to cast Genelia again in his film. If things work out, then it will be the first film where John and Imran will work together.
Confirming the news, producer Madhu Mantena stated that JKTK will star mixed cast taken from Abbas’ two films.
In Jhoota Hi Sahi, Abbas has cast his wife Pakhi in the female lead role opposite John and the film will hit theaters on this October 15.

Bollywood star Salman Khan has millions of crazy fans, who are ready to do anything for him. This time, Salman himself appealed to them to do something for him. However, it was for a noble cause because the actor appealed to the fans on his Twitter page that they come forward to donate whatever they can do to help one professor called Sandeep Desai, for building a school in rural Maharashtra.
The fans have also responded immediately and donated generously for the Mission of Desai. The star power of Salman was so powerful that Desai received immediate response.
Later, Salman again posted that he is receiving lots of tweets from his fans, who have deposited money for the good cause. He added that one student has even donated his entire pocket money of Rs 2000 for the sake of Salman’s words.
Salman was so touched by the act that he again tweeted saying that he wanted people to donate the little extra they have. He requested them not to get carried away by his appeal.
The Dabangg star informed through his tweets that Professor Sandeep Desai has been travelling to and fro between Churchgate and Goregaon railway stations only to collect funds for a partly built English medium school in Ratnagiri. Salman wanted his fans to help the man as a human being. He also confirmed that it is not for his charity organization called ‘Being Human charity’. He also gave the account details, where people could donate the money.
An amazing response was received in a short time as the professor managed to get a good amount.
The professor was quoted saying that Salman Khan called him up and took his bank account details and promised to help him. Desai added that he has been receiving lots of calls and emails from across the world to offer financial aid.
Salman Khan has again proved that he is not only a superstar but a man with a super heart!

Recently, we have reported about Bollywood star Akshay Kumar auctioning a lunch date for charity purpose. Now, there is a report that megastar Amitabh Bachchan has also come out asking people to bid for a lunch date with him and the reason is same here, ‘charity’.
So, a meeting with India’s biggest Bollywood star is just a bid away for the fans. One just needs to log on to the online marketplace eBay and bid for an amount to win a lunch date with Big B. This auction is being conducted as a part of the ‘Joy of Giving’ week. The online portal has taken this initiative with an aim to raise funds for social causes.
The winning bidder can take up to nine people with him or her to meet Amitabh Bachchan and enjoy a lavish lunch with him. The bid has reportedly crossed Rs 6 lakh by now.
Deepa Thomas, eBay India Senior Manager, was quoted saying that millions of eBay users dream to have a lavish lunch and tete-a-tete with Mr Bachchan. She said that now eBay is offering the same for with charity and contribution to a good cause.
Amitabh can use this auction money for the benefit of any NGO chosen by him. The Joy of Giving Week 2010 has started on 27th September and it will conclude on October 4.

Bollywood has always been a dream destination for our actresses. But here is a star, who has refused to be part of a ‘tempting’ blockbuster reality show for the sake of acting in a Tamil movie.
She is Neetu Chandra, who has been roped in by director Ameer to act opposite ‘Jayam’ Ravi in a film titled ‘Aadhi Bhagavan’. And the reality show to which the actress said ‘no’ is ‘Bigg Boss 4’.
“Though the ‘Bigg Boss’ offer was lucrative and tempting, Neetu won’t be able to participate as she has to leave for Ameer’s shoot in Pattaya (Thailand) this week”, Neetu’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar said in a statement.
Ameer selected Neetu for the role after he was impressed with her performance in a special song in Mysskin’s ‘Yudham Sei’. A good friend of Mysskin, Ameer too has danced for the number along with Neetu.

Due to earlier plans of
Ayodhya judgement being slated for 24th September,
‘Anjaana Anjaani’ decided to move a week ahead. Since it was anyways arriving solo, there were no other releases planned for this week either, hence resulting in a no-show for Bollywood.
Also, the decision was made at the nth hour due to which no other film from a later week too couldn’t pre-pone its release and utilise the empty space available. All of this meant that for filmgoers, it was a disheartening moment since there was no new release for two weeks in succession after ‘Dabangg’.
However, there is one team that is pretty much jumping with joy and it is that of ‘Dabangg’. Biggest of the film makers pray for limited competition next to them on the same Friday. A few fortunate ones manage to arrive solo. It is an aberration when no new film releases in the week after. However, it is pretty much unheard for when a biggie enjoys as many as three weeks of an open run. This is what has happened for ‘Dabangg’ and no wonder, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Co. have everything going in it’s favour.
The film has now enjoyed three open weeks which means huge moolah continuing to flow in. In fact the film was super strong even in its third weekend as it netted over 10 crores. With the only real competition coming from ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ and ‘Robot’ in its fourth week, ‘Dabangg’ could well stretch itself to reach the 150 crores milestone.

Ram Gopal Varma’s most-talked trilingual (Hindi-Telugu- Tamil) project ‘Rakta Charitra’ is waiting to show itself on Oct 22nd. While we are waiting for the film to come on big screens, looks like we have to be satisfied with Rakta Charitra’s music for the time being…
Latest update from the movie’s front is that its audio will be released tomorrow that is on September 26th in Hyderabad. The music is done by Mani Sharma, who was in fact initiated by Ramu to take up the composing work. Madhura Music reported to have got the audio rights.
Interestingly, RGV has also rendered his voice for a track, but only for the Telugu version. On the other hand, remaining songs will mostly be pure background scores. Among them is said to be a re-worked version of “Govinda Govinda”, the popular track of ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Sarkar Raj’.

Folks, if the rustic Sallu bhai was not enough for the ‘city’ walas, then don’t worry because the Super Khan Salman Khan will be more carefree in the sequel to his blockbuster ‘Dabangg’, the movie that made the star jump high amongst his contemporaries without any fault.
The sequel which is said to be based in Mumbai will be titled ‘Bindass’ – a lingo used in Mumbai for a person who is carefree, brave. Well that’s something we all wanted to look out for in our dear macho Khan Salman the man with a heart bigger then his biceps.
We all know that Salman has remarkably made the industry feel his star power when he flexed his muscles during ‘Dabangg’ and the masses just adored it again and again.

Aamir Khan and Anusha Rizvi’s Peepli Live has been making waves since even before its extremely well marketed release all over the world. Perhaps Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan deserves the title of ‘King Khan’ this time as he delivers one Oscar-worthy film after another, whether in the capacity of an actor or a producer. This is Aamir’s second film to the chosen as the official entry from India to the Academy Awards.
Peepli Live’s simple story, and an even simpler approach to the narrative, has made the film an instant hit with critics and viewers alike, and was touted to be one the year’s best films right from the get go. A most commendable effort on debutant director Anusha Rizvi’s part, Peepli Live has all the ingredients to make it an international favourite. Audiences in Europe and America seem to appreciate the rustic and rural setting in Indian films, as opposed to the unmatchable of glitz and glamour of, let’s say for example, Karan Johar and Yash Raj’s films.
The grit and grunge of the poor and underpriviledged in India has been the backdrop for many a successful film and Peepli Live’s satirical angle on farmer suicides gives it the extra oomph that might just carry it into the nominations for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars. The story revolves around Natha, a poor farmer who is about to lose his plot of land. When Natha figures that a quick solution to his problem might be the government aid program which gives money to the family of farmers who have committed suicide, he decides to end his life. Unfortunately for Natha, his decision to commit suicide to help his family becomes a national issue as overzealous politicians, bureaucrats, and of course, the media, hype up his story out of proportion, each for their own ulterior motives.
The film has had a unanimous verdict of being a winner among audiences everywhere and is touted to be the uncontested entry from India this year. However, some do say that the film’s minus point, which may prevent it from making it into the final five, is its close resemblance to Billy Wilder’s award-winning 1951 film, Ace in the Hole (later renamed The Big Carnival), which also dealth with the media and how newsmakers report what they report.
As of now, it’s a waiting game for Peepli Live and all its fans as the official list of nominees for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards will be announced on January 25th, 2011.

The shoot of the film which took off around Holi ended on Ganesh Chaturthi and Eid –the promo of the film will hit theatre screens around Diwali and the film releases Christmas Eve.
So can we easily consider the film to be amongst the most auspicious?
“There has been a certain divinity that has stayed through the filming of the movie and hopefully it should go on – with the kind of curiosity the film’s poster has generated the film is bound of strike gold at the box office” adds the source.

Two leading ladies of Bollywood Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone are again pitted against each other! However, Ranbir Kapoor is not the issue this time. The actresses are fighting to be the leading lady of Akshay Kumar’s Joker.
Joker is an upcoming movie to be made jointly by Akshay’s Hari Om Productions and Farah Khan and Shirish’s Three’s Company. There is a buzz that two leading actresses are in the run to star opposite Akshay in this movie.
A source was quoted saying that both Katrina and Deepika think that they are doing Joker whereas the other one does not know about it. During the shooting of Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan, Kareena had a talk with Akshay regarding this and has taken it for granted that she will be starring in it.
The source added that the recent development is the inclusion of the other lady Deepika as she is best suitable for the script. So, this has left Akshay in a dilemma and he’s trying to find out the best way to inform one of the actresses to take a walk. This has become tougher for Akshay because of his close association with both the ladies and does not like to hurt feelings of either of them.
In the meantime, there was a buzz that Katrina had a fallout with Akshay and this has upset the actress very much. She wants to declare it clearly that she is still very close to the actor.
The co-producer Shirish opted to stay out of any controversy by saying that they are still hunting for the female lead opposite Akshay and have not finalized anyone yet. He added that they are considering the top actresses as it is a performance- oriented role and will make a final decision jointly with Akshay in a week.
Well, now its on Akshay whom he prefers to shed tears and who will enter happily in the Joker team!

There comes a minor barrier in the path of ‘
Dabangg’ success. The balm company had filed case against ‘Dabangg’ for the usage of the word Zandu Balm in the chartbuster ‘Munni Badnam Hui’ without their permission. Producer
Arbaaz Khan has made an amicable settlement with the company out-of-court. Now,
Malaika Arora Khan will be endorsing their brand Zandu Balm.
Confirming the same, Arbaaz said, "Yes...we've arrived at a mutual understanding with the makers of Zandu Balm. With the song gaining such huge popularity, we've now decided to come up with a special ad featuring Malaika promoting both our film Dabangg and their brand Zandu Balm. In addition, Malaika would also be endorsing the brand Zandu Balm individually in the future. Both parties didn't want to get into any sort of unnecessary legal hassles and felt that an out-of-court settlement was the best option."
"It's all been amicably sorted, out of court, thanks to ad-man Prahlad Kakkad. He knew both parties very well and initiated discussions", added Khan.
He added, "It was always a win-win situation for both sides. We will have tie-ups with their company. Malaika will be their brand ambassador." Incidentally, Kakkad is expected to shoot the first balm ad with Malaika.
’Dabangg’ became a blockbuster and the song ‘Munni Badnam Hui’ hit the chartbuster.

Bollywood Queen Kareena Kapoor has been signed to play the female lead in Salman Khan’s next movie Bodyguard, which is a remake of a Malayalam film starring Dileep and Nayantara.
Salman and Kareena’s last film Main Aurr Mrs Khanna bombed at the Box office but this has not discouraged Bebo to pair with Salman again. It may be the effect of Salman’s latest blockbuster hit Dabangg that has encouraged Kareena to take up the role.
There is a buzz that Salman’s sister Alvira and her husband actor Atul Agnihotri have signed Kareena for Bodyguard. Siddique, who directed the original Malayalam version of the movie, will also direct the Hindi version. The film is likely to start rolling in December and will revolve around Salman’s character. However, it will have some powerful female performance too.
Atul was quoted saying that after watching the original Malayalam version, he was convinced that only Kareena can do justice to the role in the Hindi version. There was also a rumor about Katrina being considered for the female lead. However, Atul cleared the air saying that whenever a film is launched the producers undergo a thought process of which of the three top actresses can be cast. They have also gone under the same process to shortlist who will be best suited Salman in this movie, he added. Atul further added that they never approached any other actress as they were convinced from the beginning that Kareena is best suitable for the character.
The movie is being produced by Atul and Alvira and renowned music director Pritam is scoring is music.

Superstar Hrithik Roshan is the latest entry from Bollywood to Madame Tussauds statue and now the actor has left for London with his wife to give his measurements to the gallery people, who wil stark work on his statue immediately.

There is a report that Hrithik has left for London with his wife Sussanne Khan and his stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania for being measured for his statue. A source close to the Roshan family has confirmed the news that the actor is in London now.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has raised voice against a very sensitive issue, which is often ignored by all of us. The actor, who is Brand Ambassador of the Special Olympics, has started campaigning against the use of the word ‘retard’ for the mentally challenged people.
The 43 year old actor is not the only one in this campaign as he is getting support from the big names of Bollywood in this noble step.
Now days, the micro-blogging site Twitter has become the most popular place to raise any issue and Akshay has also utilized this platform to speak for this noble cause. He posted informing that he is overwhelmed by the support he is getting from the industry people in this campaign to ban the use of word ‘retard’.
Akshay feels that these mentally and physically challenged people should get the same kind of recognition like the other people get and they should be given a chance to blossom in their abilities.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has come out in support of Kumar and posted on his blog that Akshay wanted him to do a small TV bite stating how people should not refer to the disabled children with the term ‘retarded’. They should be rather handled with proper care and understanding and they should be supported to stand on their own feet, Mr Bachchan added saying that he felt good.
Apart from Big B, other Bollywood celebrities like Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Farah Khan also came out in support of this appreciative step taken by Akshay Kumar.

Audience were all geared up to watch ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ this weekend before the makers decided to push the film ahead by a week in wake of court ruling on Ayodhya land. This means that there is not a single movie releasing this week as well, just as was the case over the week gone by.
One would have felt that the ‘Dabangg’ wave would subside by the time ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ releases since the Salman Khan starrer would have already enjoyed a strong two week run. However, the postponement of ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ means a few more crores added to the kitty of Arbaaz Khan.
The film has already crossed 100 crores at the box office and is still counting. It is not every month that a big film gets a three week open run. However, ‘Dabangg’ is pretty much enjoying that now with no new releases for third week in succession. Also, since single screens have been continuing to do fantastic business and the film now reaching smaller towns as well, ‘Dabangg’ is looking at humungous collections that could well reach the 150 crores mark.
Meanwhile, the moving ahead of ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ has resulted in the release calendar being disturbed. ‘Aakrosh’, which was originally supposed to arrive on 1st October, has now been pushed ahead to 8th October in order to avoid competition. ‘Crook’ has continued to stick to it’s 8th October release though. ‘A Flat’ has wisely decided to move to November though in order to find some breathing space for itself.
One waits to see whether the biggies on 15th October (Knock Out, Jhoota Hi Sahi) see any movement because ‘Rakta Charitra – I’ (as of now) is sticking to its 22nd October plans.
With a dozen odd more releases, all will most likely fit into October though since November would be dominated by Diwali releases ‘Action Replayy’ and ‘Golmaal 3′.

Actress Freida Pinto thought that dealing with reporters and photographers at big movie premieres would be a piece of cake after she experienced her first red carpet about a couple of years back at the internationally acclaimed Toronto International Film Festival.
As per her words, there wasn’t anyone present at the red carpet for the premier of the film Slumdog Millionaire. She said that there was just one photographer and one interviewer at the premier for the movie; things however changed real soon after the movie grabbed a few Academy Awards. Frieda’s story has been totally like a fairytale. She came to the festival as a new face and became a rising star.
She claims that she was very nervous and was excited at the same time too, but soon things took a turn for the better and she became the movie star that she always dreamt of becoming. She currently is busy playing, Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and Julian Schnabel’s Miral.
Pinto, who is 25 now, was raised in the city of Mumbai and initially started off as a model as well as a travel show host on TV before her big movie career blossomed. She would also be seen in the upcoming Immortals and the prequel to the Planet of the Apes, aptly titled Rise of the Apes. In the month of December, she would begin filming Black Thirst.

With all producers wisely deciding to stay as far away from ‘Dabangg’ as possible, three inconsequential films – ‘Life Express’, ‘For Real’ and ‘A Distant Mirage’ – arrived at the box office over the Friday gone by. None of the three films even saw a decent release coming their way with only ‘For Real’ getting a few shows for itself. As for the other two, even a single show per multiplex was hard to come by. Arriving as mere gap fillers with no interest shown by film fraternity, theaters and obviously the paying ‘junta’, the three films didn’t find any eye balls coming their way.
Due to it’s pitching amongst the niche audience, ‘For Real’ saw the best response amongst the three but the occupancy was still abysmally low. Decent reviews were the only solace for the makers here as other than some good performances, there was nothing much to write home about this film that dealt with psychological issues faced by kids who are a witness to troubled relationship between their parents.
Coincidentally, the other two films dealt with troubled relationships as well. While ‘Life Express’, notwithstanding it’s bizarre title, was about surrogate motherhood, ‘A Distant Mirage’ was an oft repeated story of NRI marriages falling apart. Well, audience was in no mood to get any more troubled and instead went back to the only film which is continuing to make a huge impact at the box office – ‘Dabangg’. The preference was clear – it was going to be entertainment all the way. What was more surprising was that even critics felt the same. Except for ‘For Real’, not many bothered to even review the other two films.
All of this means that ‘Dabangg’ can well enjoy another good week at the box office.

It is always a tough job to fill in the shoes of one of the finest action superstar of Bollywood, seems like Priyanka Chopra is having a hard time dealing with the huge expectations.
Recently a dipstick poll was conducted about Priyanka’s ability to host the popular show, about 20% of the viewers considered her fit for the job. On the other hand a large percentage was of the opinion that Priyanka is not fit for the role at all. Priyanka has a lot on her platter right now and she has to prove her mettle as a stunt show host to the audience.
Although from the beginning Priyanka has portrayed a hard-as-nails attitude but she has not gained the respect of the contestants and the audience. Akshay Kumar used to share a great camaraderie with the contestants but that does not seem to be the case with Priyanka. We can only hope that the upcoming episodes of the show will be a bit exciting.

It isn’t going to be a very happy birthday for Kareena Kapoor on September 21st. She will be far away from home shooting for Sriram Raghavan’s Agent Vinod in Latvia. Earlier, in July, she missed her sister Karisma’s birthday since she was shooting in London with Shah Rukh Khan for Ra.1.
The only bright spot in this birthday away from home is that Saif will be with her. And since Agent Vinod is a home production, Saif and Kareena are planning to fly down Kareena’s mother to Latvia for the birthday. Karisma cannot join them because of her baby.
Kareena expresses helplessness about her impossible schedules. “What can I do? I barely have time to breathe. I’ve just come to Mumbai for two days. I’ve been away for 25 days. Now I fly off to Latvia for over a month’s shooting,” said Kareena on Monday as she geared up to give all the time she could to promoting her new film We Are Family before flying out again.
Confirming that the shooting of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine has indeed been postponed, Kareena says, “Madhur is still working on the script. We start shooting the film when the script is ready in the next three months. Right now Madhur is busy with Dil To Bachcha Hai Jee.”
Says the actress, “I’m now entering a new phase in my life and career. This year I hope to conquer many new peaks. By God’s grace Agent Vinod and Ra.1 are shaping up very well.”

After a record breaking Friday, a few cynics felt that ‘Dabangg’ would fall on Saturday and Sunday. When that didn’t happen, all eyes were on to see how the weekdays would perform. Those in favour of a film bringing happiness to the industry cheered for ‘Dabangg’ but some prayed silently for this Salman Khan starrer to go downhill after the initial euphoria settled down. As it turned out, ‘Dabangg’ continued to be super strong on week days as well and in the process went on to not just continue to entice audience but also create a record.
A total of 81 crores meant that the first week count (including the Thursday previews) of ‘3 Idiots’ i.e. 80 crores, was left behind by a close margin. While this has been a huge total by itself, what makes it further remarkable is the fact that a major contribution has been made by single screens theaters here which is Salman’s target audience. While ‘3 Idiots’ was made for multiplex audience and ticket rates were also jacked up, this was not the case with ‘Dabangg’. This further translates into the fact that viewer-ship of ‘Dabangg’ has been considerably higher than ‘3 Idiots’, hence putting a stamp on Salman’s super-stardom.
In fact, I remember that after the release of ‘3 Idiots’, I had asked a question in this very column – ‘Is there any competition for Aamir Khan? Can only Aamir beat Aamir at not just the box office but also where quality of cinema is concerned?’ Well, as is obvious now, anything is possible. Though ‘3 Idiots’ looked unbeatable once, the unthinkable has happened within a year. The only movie in near future that seems most likely to cover a greater distance is ‘Tees Maar Khan’. Will it manage to top 80 crores in the very first week? Let’s wait and watch.
As for ‘Dabangg’ topping ‘3 Idiots’ when it comes to the lifetime total of 200 crores plus, it is not happening by any means. While ‘3 Idiots’ had crossed 50 crores in its second week, ‘Dabangg’ would be settling at around 30-35 crores crores since the repeat audience would now mainly come from single screens. Still, ‘Dabangg’ is all set to be the second highest grosser ever by eclipsing the 115 crores lifetime total of ‘Ghajini’.

Beauty queen turned Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is well known for her charity work. She has been associated with various causes and supported many charitable works. Recently, the 36 year old actress has pledged to donate her beautiful eyes after her death.
On Thursday, Aishwarya and Akshay Kumar visited the Cancer Patients Aid Association and spend some good time with the cancer patients there. Both the actors danced with these patients and brought smiles to their faces.
The actress has been associated with this association since she won the Miss World crown. Ash has announced on that day to adopt two cancer patients for their treatment. She requested others to do the same so that these people can lead normal lives.
Akshay Kumar’s father also suffered from the dreaded disease so the actor could feel the pain of these patients. He was quoted saying that he had seen his father struggling with cancer with a lot of courage. The actor said that he is very happy see these patients happily dancing today.
Neerja Birla and model Kalpana Malviya also attended the event along with the two Bollywood stars.
This noble step taken by Aishwarya might encourage many to support these cancer patients at their level! She has done her part of social responsibility and must be applauded for that.

Veteran director Nasir Hussain made a hit movie Yadoon Ki Baraat in 1973 and now his son Mansoor Khan, is reportedly going to remake the movie after almost three decades.
The 1973 movie starred veteran stars Dharmendra, Zeenat Aman, Tariq and Vijay Arora. And interestingly, Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan made his debut as child actor with this movie. However, Aamir has not denied or confirmed the news of remaking this yesteryear blockbuster hit movie.
A sourced was quoted revealing that the remaking process of the movie is on and above all the new film will star Amitabh Bachchan, prince charming of Bollywood Ranbir Kapoor and his competitor Imran Khan.
Moreover, Aamir Khan is also likely to star in this movie. If this happens to be true, it will be like a casting coup of the decade. Director Mansoor Khan was the man behind Aamir Khan’s debut movie Qayamat se Qayamat tak, which was a huge success and made Aamir Khan a star overnight. Mansoor also directed Aamir Khan’s another hit movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander.
The official announcement about the movie is likely come after Aamir returns from the Toronto Film festival, where his wife Kiran Rao’s directorial debut movie Dhobi Ghaat received good accolades.

Choreographer turned director Farah Khan has already created a lot of buzz about her upcoming movie Tees Maar Khan. Recently, she teamed up with Salman Khan for shooting a song with the lead actors Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. And now, the latest buzz is that veteran star Anil Kapoor has been signed to play himself in this movie.
Anil Kapoor will be seen playing himself for the first time in his 27 year long career, a source stated.
The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Akshaye Khanna and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Confirming the news, Farah said that Anil will be essaying the role of a person with whom Akshaye is very upset because he could not make it big whereas Anil plays a successful actor and has been able to go to Hollywood.
On choosing Anil, Farah said that he has actually gone to Hollywood in real life so it suited the role. And moreover, Farah considers Anil as one of her close friends.
Elaborating the look of Anil, Farah said that he will put on the same suit he wore at the Oscars. He will also be seen performing his Ram Lakhan dance with the kids in the film with some kids. Even though he appears at the end of the movie, his name will be mentioned throughout the film.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is preparing for his next movie Department, which is a follow-up of his 2002 hit film Company and a prequel to his 2004 movie Ab Tak Chappan. The new movie is reportedly going to be a bigger movie than the original one.
Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bahchan and Ajay Devgn are already on board for this new project of RGV. They will be playing the cops in this sequel to Company. The latest reports suggest that megastar Amitabh Bachchan is also going to be a part of this film as a senior cop.
The movie supposedly revolves around four encounter specialists, inspired by the real life cops like Daya Nayak, Vijay Salaskar, Pradeep Sharma and Sachin Vaze. They fall apart due to their allegiance to different underworld dons.
The character of Daya Nayak is played by Ajay Devgn, Dutt supposedly plays Pradeep Sharma and Abhishek’s role is inspired by Sachin Vaze. The turning point comes when Abhishek is required to take sides following a conflict between Dutt and Devgn.
Big B as the senior officer tries to ensure that the law and order in city remains intact and it is not disturbed due to any issue between his officers.
However, RGV refused to comment on the casting and said that he is still in the process of developing the script.
Well, if the reports are true then audience can expect to watch another action packed cop versus underworld thrilling experience!

Bollywood actor Sohail Khan is in the news now and the reason is not a new movie, but a clash with builder Ashish Raheja.
On last Thursday night, Sohail went out with his sister-in-law Mallaika, Amrita and sister Arpita at Olive bar, a popular hangout for Bollywood celebrities and socialites. The incident took place there when the builder Ashish Raheja misbehaved with his sister Arpita.
Amrita and Mallaika were seated with Sohail Khan at the same table and Arpita was sitting at the adjacent table. Ashish Raheja entered the scene after few minutes and settled at the table next to Arpita. As time passed, the associates of Rajeha started increasing and they turned louder. At one point, Raheja allegedly dropped the drink in his hand on Arpita by mistake.
An eyewitness was quoted saying that Raheja dropped the drink on Arpita’s dress. When she asked him about the behavior, Ashish turned very rude and said that he can buy her table out. This led to an argument between Sohail and Ashish Raheja. Later, Raheja was asked to leave the Olive bar as a big hullabaloo was created there.
Confirming the news, Sohail was quoted saying that there was a little argument and pushing each other but he did not beat up Raheja. The actor said that initially he took it easily but when his sister got very uncomfortable with Raheja’s friends dancing around her table, he was forced to step in.

Tees Maar Khan’ is all set for a big release this Christmas. However, now there is an unlikely contender in the form of ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, an all-Deol starrer which has decided to come on the same day. One wonders what do the makers of ‘Tees Maar Khan’ have to comment on the latest developments.
“We can’t help if ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ has decided to release on the same day, right? We know where we stand though. Most of the shooting for the film is complete and we are neck deep into post production. Also, there has been a pre-booking of more than 1500 prints already. We are pretty much on full throttle here”, says Shirish Kunder, the first time producer who has earlier directed ‘Jaan-E-Mann’.
“If makers of ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ still decide to go ahead then good for them. They would have certainly given it a thought before coming up with an announcement”, he goes on to add.
Since the stakes are indeed high for both the films, are the makers contemplating getting into a face to face conversation and solving it all amicably. After all both the films come with a potential of being good money spinners at the box office and the clash won’t quite help the cause, especially so for ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ since Deols haven’t delivered a successful film for long.
“If they want to come and talk to us, we are game for it. However, we are not going away anywhere”, says director Farah Khan who rightly believes that ‘Tees Maar Khan’ is carrying terrific buzz, especially after her two hugely successful films – ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Main Hoon Naa’.
Though one waits to see if director Samir Karnik, who has also co-produced the film with Nitin Manmohan, is planning to get into any conversation with the makers of ‘Tees Maar Khan’, an insider says that the clash would definitely be averted.
“It just doesn’t make sense at all”, he says, “It is impossible to believe that Deols would actually go ahead with Christmas release of ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’. They are talking about it but I am sure their decision making is flexible here. I can foresee the makers of both the films actually sitting across the table and sorting it out. No one benefits from a clash.”
Well, one truly wishes that this happens indeed. In the time when industry is going through an upheaval, the two biggies arriving on different dates is only going to add on to the celebrations.

She is not doing Madur’s movies for emotional causes.It so happened Bebo is friends with Lovely Singh, the director of Kya Love Story Hai and Madhur misbehaved with Lovely’s Dad. He very first made him wait and eventually rejected to meet him.
When Bebo came to know about this, she denied doing Madhur’s venture. Though Bebo, Lovely and business manager sticks to the reason that Heroine has got delayed next year. Only when Madhur’s Heroine comes out, the reality will be out!

However, it got late for a month and now the trailers will seem with Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor cast Anjaana Anjaani.In the meantime, the industry insiders have reported that the trailer shows Aishwarya cigarette smoking anxiously.
The films in India have no more suspend on smoking but the actress. So people have indicated their concern over these certain scenes in the trailers of the film. However, a source close to the film was quoted saying that Aishwarya is not basically smoking in the film. The scene is very cute and funny and the sequence is captured very beautifully where she tries to smoke even though she does not know how to do it.

Kajol and Kareena Kapoor cast ‘We Are Family’, which opened to mixed reviews, has grossed about Rs.27 million (Rs.2.7 crore) from its paid previews.
The movie had a limited festival launch on Janmashtami (September 2) with paid previews – a day before the official launch on September 3.

When Aman (Arjun Rampal) introduces his new love Shreya (Kareena) to the family, things get tense as kids and Maya find it hard to accept their dad’s new companion. An incident changes their lives drastically, bringing the two women close and under the same roof.

Debutante director Siddharth Malhotra need not thank God to give him Kajol for his first film (like he said in a recent interview) for he successfully can extract noteworthy performances from his lead cast. The dramatic scenes are handled well. The sequence where Kajol tries to prove that she is a better mom than kid’s new friend-mom Kareena is worth a mention. The performances are the USP of this remake, complete with a subtle touch to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience (read family-oriented husband, beti ki shaadi and Maa ka kangan). Although, the story hardly leaves anything for imagination and the music is a let down, audience will be able to sail through.
Performances
Kajol and Kareena are probably the finest actresses we have today and were a good choice by the production house to enact the characters of two mothers. As expected, Kajol bowls you over with her knack of being a natural in front of the camera, especially towards the climax where she is weak and shattered. Talking about Kareena, she looks gorgeous and is both fresh and mature in her portrayal of a mom. She beautifully underplays her character unlike her earlier films where her characters were loud and bright. Arjun Rampal puts up a decent performance and can continue riding high on success. The kids, Aanchal Munjal, Nominath Jinsberg and Diya Sonecha, have done a wonderful job without overdoing the ‘act’, with Aanchal getting the maximum scenes to display her talent.

Producer Ashok Thakeria and Director Indra Kumar are celebrating 25 years of their association. On this occasion, they are launching their latest movie ‘Double Dhamaal’, starring Sanjay Dutt. And the interesting fact is that veteran actor Anil Kapoor is switching on the camera for the launch while Bollywood’s perfectionist Aamir Khan is sounding the clapper board for the ‘mahurat’.
Sanjay Dutt, who has just returned from his two – and -a- half month long business – cum -pleasure trip, is very happy to get the company of his long – standing neighbor Aamir Khan and his new best friend Anil at the launch of this movie. Dutt is very happy to be a part of this comedy caper again. He was seen chasing in the first movie ‘Dhamaal’ and now will appear in the sequel ‘Double Dhamaal’ also.
Ashok Thakeria and Indra Kumar duo has given some hit films like ‘Dil’, ‘Beta’, ‘Raja’ and ‘Masti’ under their banner.
‘Dhamaal’ was a huge hit in 2007, which also starred Ritesh Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Aashish Chaudhary and Javed Jaffrey. The film did not have any heroine unlike other films of these days. Like the title of the sequel, hope it really does ‘Double Dhamaal’ at the box office also!

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Anjaana Anjaani that brings together for the first time Gen-X stars Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor is a zingy romantic comedy which starts out as people meeting as strangers before they fall in love with each other.
Not only did the 2 actors have a blast while shooting for the film but were so keen during the making that they even helped out in other departments.
Sources reveal that when Ranbir and Priyanka weren’t in front of the camera they would be busy helping out the production crew much to everyone’s surprise and delight.
Says an eyewitness “Priyanka would help the extras with their hair and make up and give them styling tips .There were times she would help in controlling crowds that would gather to watch the shoots”
On the other hand Ranbir Kapoor who taking much inspiration from his assistant director days would help Siddharth Anand on the sets.
“On the sets you’d sometimes see Ranbir giving the clap or even talking to Siddharth about filming angles and the likes.” adds the source.
