Sunny Deol discovers importance of promotion after ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’

 
Sunny Deol has been in Bollywood since almost last three decades but he has learnt the benefit of promotion of a film only after the release of his last movie Yamla Pagla Deewana, which starred his dad veteran actor Dharmendra and his brother Bobby Deol.

The 54-year old action hero has learned the trick of promoting films and how it helps in the success of a movie after they did huge promotional activities for Yamla Pagla Deewana. He never knew that marketing could do wonder a film. Now, sunny knows that marketing and promotions are integral parts of film production.
Yamla Pagla Deewana started with a stunning response at the Box Office and earned a net amount of Rs. 240 million during the first weekend in India alone. The actor is a relieved man these days as his home production was a grand success at the Box Office.
Speaking about this latest realization, Sunny said that he failed to realize the importance of promotion and marketing during all these years. The actor termed promotion as the tail of the elephant (movie). He said for the success, both the tail and the elephant have to pass through the door.
Sunny said that his last movie Right Ya Wrong could not do well at the Box Office because of lack of proper promotion.
In the meantime, the action man is planning to return to his genre ‘action’ in the coming days. However, he is waiting for a different and unique project, which will present him quite differently from any of his earlier movies. The fans of the actor would also love to see him return to his action avatar again.

‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ collects Rs.15 crore during weekend just from India

 
Madhur Bhandarkar has been lucky again as his last week’s release Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji has been able to earn Rs. 15 crore during the weekend only from India. It is a great start and indicates its smooth journey at the Box Office.

So far, 2011 has been lucky for the filmmakers as all the films released till now have been successful at the Box Office. The other releases include Yamla Pagla Deewana, Dhobi Ghat and No One Killed Jessica and none of them have been disappointed.
Speaking about the prospects of his movie, Bhandarkar said that he kept a close watch at the progress of the film in the industry and trade circles. The filmmaker added that he got positive vibes from the viewers of Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji, who watched it before the release. He is quite pleased with the response of the viewers and the critics, who offered some positive reviews in its favour.
Its first weekend collection is just Rs. 3 crore less than his Priyanka Chopra starrer movie Fashion. A source close to the film was quoted saying that the film was made with a limited budget even though it starred big names like Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi. The production cost of the film was kept at Rs. 22 crore while Rs. 6 crore was invested in print and publicity. Considering its first weekend collection, it seems that collecting Rs. 28 crore will be a very easy task for the film.

Mallika Sherawat wins profanity case

Mallika Sherawat wins profanity case: Mallika Sherawat has won a case against her for an "obscene" dance performance at a five-star hotel. The actress was sued by Indian morality campaigner Vinod Jain for the dance, which was broadcast live on television in 2006.

Speaking to the Mumbai Mirror, Jain said that he would carry on fighting the case. He commented: "I don’t see this as the end of the road. I agree that Mallika has been discharged legally but I will go to the high court.

"I had given all the evidence via a CD. Let’s see what happens in the high court after I appeal.”In 2008, the Pakistani Film Authority tried to remove scenes from the film Welcome featuring Sherawat because they were too graphic.

Priyanka Chopra refuse reports of unaccounted fortune: In a move to clear her name from the "malicious rumours" reports in the media about her alleged unaccounted wealth, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has issued a statement rubbishing that there is undisclosed income that runs into crores. A statement from the film star's chartered accountants states that only 50,000 rupees was found in her home and that all the money was accounted for.

Priyanka's representatives also state that all jewellery and houses stated in media reports are already accounted for. It is also said that she hasn't mentioned how many properties she actually owns. I-T officials had searched the residences and office of Priyanka on Monday (Jan 24) for suspected tax evasion. It was reported that the film star owns nine flats in Mumbai and has unaccounted assets worth Rs 6 crore.

Salman Khan is very angry…….

Katrina Kaif’s ex beau Salman Khan isn’t very pleased with the recent I-T raid at the house of Katrina Kaif.
Salman, thrashed the raids by tweeting, “right to raid…then we the right to question….then we have RTI …. Bataooo oh ho ho oh”. He meant, if the IT officials have the right to raid then we have the right to question them and also Right to information (RTI).
The actor who is back on twitter after a long break says a lot about the raids. He then tweeted to urge others to react about it, “Aur ek insaan batao jo mere baat se dis agree karega …chekho chillao, kuch karo…” Next tweet, “ Darr gaye kya? Or am I wrong? Must b thn! Vil jst keep it acting n movie’s. y own frnd don’t want me to tweet. So good nite…”

We can understand the actor’s frustration; it was a matter related to Katrina who is still a “very good friend” of Salman.

Saif makes Deepika comfortable…

Prakash Jha’s next film Aarakshan, will have Deepika Padukone playing the lead. She has started working on the film. The actress was very nervous about the shoot as this is her first film with the director.
Deepy was in Bhopal, shooting at a college, when she suddenly had a nervous break down on looking at the crowd. After seeing the crowd of hundreds gathered at the college campus, she literally fainted.
A source reveals, “Bhopal is foreign territory for Deepika. She hasn’t shot for a film in the city before. Also, working with Jha was a first-time experience for her. His style of working is very different from the directors she’s worked with in the past.”
The source adds, “DP reached the production area, which was in the backyard of the college. Not many students had come in. The crowd was just about trickling in. In matter of couple of hours, the place was packed with students and everyone had gathered to see her shoot.”
Since her character is that of a college girl she was required to shoot at various places in the campus. However, things got better when Saif joined the shoot in the second half of the day.
“Deepika was much more comfortable when Saif came on set. He made her feel relaxed and put her at ease. She was also surprised at what kind of a hold Jha had on the crowd. Despite the fact that there were hundreds of students around, every time he would say action there would be pin drop silence on the set.”
By the end of the day Deepika got comfortable with the college crowd and even interacted with the students, promising to return to their campus once their shoot ends.

Professor Shahrukh in ‘Student Of The Year’

Recently when Johar unveiled the first look of his next film Student Of The Year – that will introduce new faces Varun Dhawan, Aaliya Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra – eyebrows were raised because SRK was conspicuously missing from the credits.
Well, now we hear that SRK will indeed act in the film, apart from co-producing it with Johar. The actor will play a college professor whom the students adore.
Fans of the superstar might say they have already seen SRK playing similar roles in films like Mohabattein and Main Hoon Na.
But trust Karan Johar to make the character different. We hear he is taking a break from the hustle-bustle of Bollywood to work on the script and flesh out SRK’s character. We hope it won’t be just a cameo.

Mallika Sherawat relieved from four year old obscenity case

 
Mallika Sherawat might be feeling a lot relieved after court relieved her from a four year old obscenity case. In 2006, Mallika performed on December 31 at a five star hotel, which was later aired by various news channels.

Her performance ended without any problem but a social activist named Vinod Jain found it an obscene act when it was shown at the news channels. He filed a case against the actress and the suburban five-star hotel. The news it headlines of all the leading media houses at that time.
The ordeal continued for more than four years since then. Now, the Session court has finally dismissed the case saying that there was nothing objectionable.
Mallika is now free from the case and out of the lengthy legal hassles. On the other hand, the complainant Vinod Jain said that the actress might have been freed by the Session court but he will move to the High Court. Jain said that he provided evidence in the form of a CD so he is hoping for the best when he appeals in the High Court.
Sherwat’s lawyer Farid Karichiwla, who is also a partner at Wadia Gandhi and Company, said that he is representing her in this matter and court concluded that there was no obscenity in her performance.
The actress preferred not to comment in this matter but she must be taking a sigh of relief after the court’s decision.

Pooja Batra files for divorce from her hubby!

 
Pooja Batra has filed for a divorce from Los Angeles-based orthopedic surgeon Dr Sonu Ahluwalia, whom she married over eight years ago.

Pooja and Sonu tied the knot on February 9, 2003 at a glittering wedding ceremony in New Delhi with people from the modeling fraternity in attendance. Pooja has acted in films like Virasaat and Haseena Maan Jayegi.
“It’s very sad that they may be splitting up. Sonu is a fantastic guy and is a famous doctor there. He tolerated all her nakhras, bought her a lovely home, a swanky car and was paying for her acting and make-up classes. When they came down last year they seemed very happy together.”
According to the source,  Apparently, Sonu wanted children and Pooja didn’t. She felt that it would affect her figure. She wants a career in Hollywood and has been going for auditions but things aren’t going her way. She has now rented a place in LA where she stays.

Aamir Khan: Ranbir Kapoor is a better actor than Imran Khan

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is one such actor, who has never maintained the diplomacy tag on him. He has never bothered to call a spade a spade. He has not been partial to anyone during his more than two decade long career in Bollywood.

The seasoned actor has yet again proved that he is a thorough professional and does not spare family and friends too. This time, it was turn of his doting nephew Bollywood actor Imran Khan. In a recent interview with Zoom, Aamir was asked to choose between Ranbir Kapoor and Imran as the better actor. Aamir could not be diplomatic here too and said that he loves Imran but as an actor Ranbir is the better one.
Well, it may hurt Imran but he should not forget the big compliment he received from his ‘mamu’. Aamir said that Imran is a ‘lambi race ka ghoda’, which is no doubt a big compliment for him. Aamir might have given a hint to Imran that he needs to work harder if he really wants to stay in competition in the industry. So, this is a genuine concern of his uncle for his betterment so he should take the positive side of it.
On the other hand, we also cannot completely deny the fact that Ranbir has done much more versatile roles in these years compared to Imran so he deserves that compliment from Aamir.

I am ready to shed clothe: Jacqueline Fernandez

Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez who has replaced Mallika Sherawat in ‘Murder 2′ says she is ready to shed her clothes if the role demands it.

“Of course, otherwise why are you an actor, ” said Jacqueline when asked is she would be ready to shed her inhibitions if the script demands.
“Why are you an actor if you are not going to give your whole to a role. Otherwise don’t be an actor that’s what I think, ” said Jacqueline while talking to reporters at the sidelines of ‘Let’s Design season -3′ programme in Kolkata.
“Murder-2″ is as a sequel of the 2004 movie ‘Murder’ – which had steamy scenes and was one of the hits of 2004.
“I don’t know why people are actors when they are not ready to do it. If you are an actor you should be ready to do it. I am a serious actor and I am ready to do it for a character, ” said the 26- year old actress.
She also fuelled rumours about her relationship status by refusing to comment on whether or not she is single.
“Why do you want to know?” giggled Jacqueline to questions whether she is single.
The three-film-old Jacqueline was earlier linked with actor Ritesh Deshmukh. “No comment on that either, ” Jacqueline told reporters in Kolkata.
Jacqueline had earlier worked in ‘Aladin’ and ‘Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai’ opposite Ritesh Deshmukh. Her acting in ‘Aladin’ had earned her International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) award and Stardust award for best female debut in 2010.

According to reports Ibrahim has recently received a gold medal for excelling in Judo at the Nirmal Lifestyle International School Sports League.
Now considering the fact that martial arts is an extremely intricate form and is something which is an added advantage for any one irrespective of what profession one chooses to be in, it does not go without being noticed that Saif’s kid is certainly heading in the right direction with his interest in this sporting activity.
Saif Ali Khan ,who is well known to be a great lover of rock and his penchant for playing the guitar will have yet another thing to be proud of- his son’s excellence in the martial arts. Indeed there is so much to learn in life and if kids are given the right guidance and the right perspective then certainly any goal is easy to achieve.
Ibrahim, son of Saif Ali Khan and yester year actress Amrita Singh is certainly lucky as he has the genes of acting imbibed in him and with great grand parents like Tiger Pataudi and the mesmerizing Sharmila Tagore the young lad surely has a lot going for him.
However to win such accolades from a different field like martial arts is certainly quite something and young Ibrahim certainly deserves a pat in the back for it.

Amitabh Bachchan: To portray a psychedelic character in ‘Boodha’

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has enthralled audiences with his amazing and stellar performances for decades on end and every time he has come out with something different in each of his movies.

Right from his serious roles to great romantic films to his very strong performance driven roles Big B has been seen in quite different avatars and looks which have been loved by his diehard fans so much that every time there is an announcement made about his next project speculations about his looks start all over again.
However Big B had more or less maintained a similar look for the past ten years or so with his patent beard and hair with a typical tinge. But now3 since he is reportedly going to be seen in a very different character in the forth coming flick titled ‘Boodha’ reports are that Big B is all set to go in for a complete makeover.
According to the buzz Big B is to portray a psychedelic character in this movie and he is to be seen sporting clothes fit for a teenager. Big B is to play the role of a man of 60 who refuses to grow up mentally and thus imagines himself to be of 25.
Thus in order to make his look authentic and just like the character her is to portray his beard and hair will be colored in vibrant shades. Even his wardrobe will be made to look something like that of a young man in his twenties.
Well seems like Big B is soon going to create an entirely new fashion for the older generation.

Preity Zinta gets a sporty costume for a sporting show

Actress Preity Zinta is all set to show her hosting prowess in the upcoming Colors show Guinness World Records-Ab India Todega. She is stepping in the shoes of the likes of Akshay ‘Khiladi’ Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra by choosing the small screen to show her acumen for stunts!

And as the demand, she has been geared differently for the show – with a complete sportsman look. Preity’s overall look is being put together by Surily Goel and will comprise of casuals teamed with waist-coat (much in vogue last season) with boots et all.
In a media interaction the 35 year old actor stated that she’s happy to be on the idiot-box for a larger audience. She says she believes in pushing the limits and that is what India will witness the contestants do too.
The show’s format is not new though. The Guinness World Records has already run in dozens of countries successfully and is presumably going to give high TRPs to the channel when it airs.
But one wonders if Preity will be as exciting as her other actor peers who have made debut. While Akshay or Priyanka are still hot with the people with their movies, Preity’s career has all but ended over last few years. She is no Amitabh Bachchan either we guess!

Emraan Hashmi: Will Mallika Sherawat bury the hatchet?

 
Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat had created quite a lot of furor with their on screen chemistry in their films together earlier in their foray into Bollywood. One such flick that was a rage was Murder what with their hot lip lock and all that.

However things soured between the two after that the two were not exactly in the best of terms and things soured between the two as rumors about the cold vibes between them was running wild in film circles. But as they say in filmdom there are no permanent friends or enemies.
Thus going by B town rules it was recently reported that during the shooting of the Madhur Bhandarkar flick Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji there was an argument between the actors Emraan Hashmi and Tisca Chopra.
Now, the argument was reportedly due to the fact that Tisca Chopra had passed some comment against Mallika Sherawat which was not taken lightly by Emraan.
Thus an argument of sorts was started between the two which was quite surprising for all the cast and crew members of the film. Everyone was well aware that things were not exactly perfect between Emraan and Mallika and when the actor came on to defend the Hiss actress it was quite a scene created on the sets of DTBHJ.
Well seems like Mallika Sherawat does have a genuine friend in Emraan, and a real good friend is exactly what this sexy gal is in need right now. Will Mallika go ahead and bury the hatchet between them? Will she be genuinely thankful to her co actor in Murder? Wait ‘n’ watch!
