Ajay Devgn to share screen space with Big B in ‘Aarakshan’

For the first time, actors Saif Ali Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are supposed to share screen space. Saif Ali Khan has replaced Ajay Devgn in Prakash Jha’s next, Aarakshan, which also stars the megastar of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan.

Ajay Devgn was the first choice for this role. If rumors are to be believed, Ajay is not too happy with the response he received for his role in Prakash Jha’s last release, Rajneeti. Ajay was subjected to mixed reviews and he said that he was told by many that he should not have done the film. This is the probable reason for the rift between Jha and Devgn. However, the two cordially greeted each other as they met at the mahurat of Rajkumar Santoshi’s next film, Power, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgan.
The reason that Ajay has cited for walking out of Jha’s Aarakshan is the very clichéd ‘date problems’. A source close to Ajay said that the actor has his home production Toonpur Ka Superhero, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil to Bachchan Hai Ji and two Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal series in the pipeline, set to release in 2011. So, he is not signing any new projects.
The pre-production of Aarakshan, which talks about reservations, has begun.
