Big B's show goes on despite power cut

Aug 05

New Delhi, (IANS) While Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was grooving to the beats of one of his popular songs "Rang barse" from "Silsila" in Texas for his world concert Unforgettable, a power cut tried to play spoilsport.

The Big B was alone on stage when the power went off.

"It happened when I was on stage. In the middle of 'Rang barse', the power to the sound went off. No mike, no electronics from the keyboard, nothing. It was a nightmare situation for any performer and any concert," Amitabh wrote on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com

The veteran actor, who has been posting pictures of the tour and performances of the stars on his blog as well, added: "In a flash realising the situation, the percussionists and the drummers who needed no power, kept the beat going on."

All the other celebrities including his son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and other actors Priety Zinta, Madhuri Dixit, Riteish Deshmukh, music composer duo Vishal-Shekhar and the dancers as well, joined him on the stage.

"They just kept clapping to the beats and dancing," he wrote.

Amitabh says at one point of time he felt "electric" and had goose bumps.

"After realising that the power had gone and that we were keeping the action going on stage, the audience stood up and joined in to clapping and dancing.

"They had realised our predicament, but just overlooked it and joined in a great gesture of togetherness in keeping the show going on," he wrote.

He described that moment as the "moment of the night".

"The sound and power came back pretty rapidly and we were back to normal," Amitabh concluded.
